MEET BUAISOU, THE “INDIGO FARMERS” OF DENIM

This post is also available in: Ita

Buaisou is a japanese denim company founded in 2012 and renowed especially for its indigo leaf farming, and for its tradition of composting the indigo leaves into SUKUMO.

Using a traditional technique of fermenting SUKUMO in ash lye, calcium hydroxide, and wheat bran, BUAISOU creates the so-called “hell vat”. The garments dyed in this 100% natural vat turn into deep and luminous “Japan Blue,” and they can immediately be washed with other garments without staining them.

Kenta Watanabe e Kaku Kaji recently welcomed on board two other “farmers”,  Yuki Ken e Yuya Miura, and together strives to bring new vitality to “Japan Blue” through their artistic and functional creations.
